summer turn of arts admin
So Devin and I were artists-in-residence for the month of July at a space called AS220. There is still much to unpack and think through about that experience. In a recent letter to a friend, I said it was very much like everything I ever wanted the Green Lantern to be, and somehow it seems to work so perfectly that I am both satiated (to find my hypothesis of GL’s 2nd Generation could work) and inspired to move in as-yet undefined but different directions. What a curious and lovely summer experience to have–it’s like I feel as though a very significant chapter of my own interests as an arts administrator have come to an end. That’s not to say I mean to stop all things GL, but I think it means running a well-oiled machine of a cultural institution (and here I’d stress “institution”) is no longer a held-to center of my work. Anyway, I wrote some more about the AS220 project here.
